About This Species
The White Cloud Mountain Minnow is a small, hardy, and vibrant fish often compared to neon tetras for its iridescent lateral stripe, though it lacks the neon's blue. They are a cool-water species, originally from mountain streams in China, and fascinatingly, they do not require a heater in most home aquariums. This makes them ideal for unheated 'nano' tanks. They are incredibly peaceful and active, and males will display beautifully to females by flaring their reddish fins. They are a shoaling fish and should be kept in groups of 6 or more, where they will create a lively, active display.
