Packaging standard
Guaranteed sellers commit to professional livestock packaging:
Double-bag method — fish and invertebrates packed in poly bags with minimal water, heat-sealed, then placed inside breather bags for oxygen exchange during transit.
Insulated boxing — styrofoam or equivalent liner inside a sturdy cardboard box; heat packs in winter where needed.
Clear labelling — "LIVE ANIMALS — KEEP UPRIGHT" on every parcel.
Livestock should ship Monday through Wednesday only so parcels are not held in depots over weekends. Sellers in outlying areas may use Tuesday cut-offs to ensure hub arrival before Friday.
On arrival — the 2-hour window
Buyers must contact the shop within 2 hours of courier delivery if anything arrives dead on arrival (DOA). Delayed claims make it impossible to verify packaging integrity or temperature exposure.
DOA claim process
Photograph unopened bags still inside the box (timestamp visible if possible).
Open only after photos; photograph any DOA livestock before removing from bags.
Contact the seller via the same channel used to order — include order reference and photos.
Guaranteed sellers work in good faith: replacement, credit, or refund per their stated policy.
