Most planted tanks in South African homes are not running pressurised CO2, and most of them do not need to. What they do need is a carbon source, something in the water column and something in the substrate. Flourish Excel provides the carbon that would otherwise be the limiting factor. Flourish covers the trace elements. The tabs go under root feeders - swords, crypts and anything else that takes its food from the substrate rather than the water - where liquid fertiliser never reaches. Start at the lower end of the dosing range and increase slowly. Overdosing liquid carbon is the fastest way to lose sensitive stems, mosses and shrimp, and the tank will not thank you for being in a hurry.
