About This Species
The Managuense Cichlid, commonly called the Jaguar Cichlid, is a large and spectacularly aggressive predator from Central America. Named for its bold black jaguar-spot pattern that develops as it matures, this species is an ambush predator that combines beauty with raw power. Males can reach 40 centimetres and are extremely territorial, especially during breeding. Despite its aggression, its striking appearance and interactive personality have made it one of the most popular Central American cichlids.
