The Largescale Yellowfish is one of South Africa's most iconic indigenous freshwater fish, prized by anglers and increasingly kept by enthusiasts of native species. Found in the Limpopo and Incomati river systems, this powerful fish features golden-yellow flanks with large, well-defined scales. It is an active, schooling species that requires excellent water flow and oxygenation. As an indigenous species, keeping it for aquarium purposes typically requires provincial permits.
