Assorted Peacock Cichlid

Peacock Cichlids from Lake Malawi are renowned for their spectacular, iridescent coloration, which primarily develops in males. 'Assorted' typically refers to various species and hybrids, showcasing a rainbow of blues, reds, and yellows. They are relatively peaceful for cichlids, though males are territorial towards other males of similar appearance. An ideal setup mimics their rocky lake environment with plenty of caves and a sandy substrate. They are 'sand-sifters,' an interesting behavior where they scoop up sand in their mouths to filter out small invertebrates, spitting the clean sand back out.
