African Pike

The African Pike is a fearsome predatory fish found across sub-Saharan Africa, including some South African river systems. Resembling a torpedo with teeth, it is an ambush predator that lurks among submerged vegetation and strikes at passing prey with explosive speed. Its elongated body, large mouth filled with sharp teeth, and powerful tail make it superbly adapted for its predatory lifestyle. Keeping this species may require permits from provincial nature conservation authorities.
