What to know before you buy.
The Turbo Snail is a workhorse of the reef tank clean-up crew. This large, heavy-shelled snail is a powerful herbivore, adept at consuming large amounts of hair algae and film algae from rocks and glass. Its size is both a benefit and a drawback; it cleans large areas quickly but is notoriously clumsy, often knocking over unsecured corals. They are completely reef-safe and peaceful. An interesting fact about Turbo snails is their inability to right themselves if they fall upside-down on the sand bed. Aquarists often have to manually flip them over to prevent them from being eaten by hermit crabs or starving.
