About This Species
The Red Corn Anemone, also known as a Flower or Rock Anemone, is a beautiful and hardy species, typically a deep red or maroon. Unlike hosting anemones, it is relatively stationary, preferring to bury its foot deep in the sand or a rock crevice. Its tentacles are short, beaded, and 'corn-like,' and it uses them to catch small prey from the water column. It is reef-safe with caution; while it doesn't move much, it has a potent sting and will eat any small shrimp or fish that blunders into it. It does not require the intense lighting of a Bubble Tip and is a good choice for 'nano' or lower-light systems.
