    Overview

What to know before you buy.

The 'Bullseye' or 'Superman' mushroom is a color morph of *Rhodactis* that features a striking, contrasting color pattern, typically a blue base with red or orange 'bubbles,' resembling a bullseye target. They are hardy and relatively peaceful, but can be semi-aggressive, as they are capable of stinging nearby corals if they get too close. They prefer low to moderate light and flow. A-fascinating fact about *Rhodactis* is their ability to 'eat' small fish. While rare, large specimens are known to close up around and consume small, unwary gobies or shrimp.

    Care guide

Everything you need to keep Bullseye Mushroom healthy in a South African setup.

    Tank setup

A minimum 40L aquarium suits Bullseye Mushroom. Match décor to natural behaviour — plants, rockwork, or open swimming room as needed.

    Water parameters

Keep pH 8.1–8.4 and 24–28°C. Stable parameters matter more than chasing perfect numbers — acclimate new arrivals slowly.

    Feeding

Bullseye Mushroom is carnivore. Feed a varied diet appropriate for invertebrates — quality flakes, pellets, or frozen foods sized to the mouth.

    Behaviour

Bullseye Mushroom is generally semi-aggressive. Observe during feeding and at lights-out for true temperament.

    Tankmates

Pair with similarly sized semi-aggressive tankmates in invertebrates. Avoid fin-nippers or species that outgrow this fish.

    Breeding

Breeding notes for Bullseye Mushroom vary by line and water chemistry — ask your local shop about proven pairs in SA.

    Keeping invertebrates?

Invertebrates read water quality more sensitively than fish — condition and test rather than guess.
