About This Species
Alveopora, or 'Flowerpot Coral,' is a Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral that resembles its cousin, *Goniopora*. It features long, flowing polyps that extend from a branching or massive base, each tipped with 12 tentacles (as opposed to Goniopora's 24). It prefers moderate light and gentle-to-moderate flow to allow its polyps to sway. It is a semi-aggressive coral with long sweeper tentacles. This species is notoriously difficult to keep long-term, often slowly receding over months due to improper feeding or water parameters. Its 12-tentacle structure is the key identifier.
