Acropora is the iconic Small Polyp Stony (SPS) coral, famous for its complex, branching structures and vibrant colors, from deep blues and purples to bright pinks and greens. They are the 'holy grail' for many reefers, but are demanding. They require very high light, strong, chaotic water flow, and exceptionally stable water parameters. They are fast-growing but sensitive. A fascinating fact is that Acropora species are the primary reef-building corals in the world's oceans, creating the massive structures that support entire ecosystems. They are aggressive, stinging any coral they touch.
