Air-driven sponge filter that combines gentle mechanical filtration with a large surface for beneficial bacteria - the standard choice for fry, shrimp, breeder and quarantine tanks where a power filter's intake would be dangerous. Choose XS for nano and fry tanks, Small for up to ~40L, or Medium for up to ~80L. As a rule of thumb, a single-outlet air pump comfortably drives one sponge filter up to about 20L; step up to a dual-outlet pump for larger tanks or if you're running two filters. Rinse the sponge in old tank water (never tap water) to protect the bacteria colony.
