The Canary Wrasse, or Yellow Wrasse, is a burst of solid, brilliant yellow that adds intense color and activity to any marine tank. It is an active and curious fish that tirelessly patrols the rockwork, hunting for small pests like bristleworms and flatworms, making it a valuable member of a 'clean-up crew.' This species requires a sandy substrate, as it buries itself in the sand at night or when frightened. It is generally peaceful and reef-safe, though it may prey on very small ornamental shrimp. Interestingly, all Canary Wrasses are born female, and some will transition to male as they mature, although visual differences are minimal.
