Community Guidelines & Acceptable Use
Applies across the whole FishHub platform.
Last updated 2026-06-15 · Version 1.0.0-draft
These Community Guidelines & Acceptable Use Policy ("Guidelines") set the rules for everyone using FishHub (operated by FishHub (Pty) Ltd). They form part of our Terms of Service. They apply across the marketplace and the wider community.
1. Be honest and accurate
- List only items you own and may lawfully sell, and describe them truthfully (condition, price, availability).
- Do not impersonate others, fake reviews, or manipulate ratings, alerts, or price history.
- Verified-shop and community-seller listings must reflect who is actually selling. Remember: on the marketplace you are the seller, not FishHub.
2. Prohibited items and content
Do not list, sell, or post:
- illegal, stolen, counterfeit, or recalled items;
- protected, endangered, or illegally-collected species, or anything sold in breach of permit, import, or conservation rules;
- animals offered or handled inhumanely, or in breach of animal-welfare or transport law;
- weapons, drugs, hazardous materials, or other items prohibited by law;
- anything that infringes someone else's intellectual property.
3. Livestock responsibility
FishHub never sells, ships, or takes custody of livestock — all live animals are listed and supplied by Sellers. If you list animals, you are responsible for their lawful, humane sale and transport. Buyers and Sellers should follow safe, ethical practices and any guidance we publish.
4. Treat people well
- No harassment, hate speech, threats, or discrimination.
- No spam, scams, phishing, or off-platform schemes designed to defraud.
- Keep reviews fair and based on real experience.
5. Keep transactions safe
Because marketplace transactions happen directly between buyer and Seller, take sensible precautions: meet in safe places, use reputable couriers, and be cautious with payment. FishHub does not handle marketplace payments and cannot recover funds in a private transaction gone wrong.
6. Respect the platform
Do not scrape, copy, or reuse our species catalogue, content, or data except as permitted; do not attempt to break, overload, or circumvent the platform's security or access controls.
7. Reporting and enforcement
You can report listings, content, or users. We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that breach these Guidelines, the Terms, or the law. Repeated or serious breaches may be permanent. Reports from multiple users may flag content for review; we do not auto-hide content from report volume alone.
8. Changes
We may update these Guidelines. The version and "last updated" date above reflect the current version.
